Christmas is right around the corner you guys and we’ve been lucky enough to working with Halfords, on their Christmas came early Halford Ride On campaign. Halfords kids Zone is looking EPIC! Especially the Halfords Ride-On section of their site, go check out their electric cars.
If you’re anything like me once the cooler weather sets in all you want to do is hibernate. Like a big grizzly bear cuddled up on the sofa with a snuggly blanket, a yummy hot chocolate and an awesome TV show to binge on.
That’s me talking, from an adults perspective. Most kids want to be outside running around and having fun using their imagination. So we’re trying something a bit different this year we are trying to get out at the weekend more with the boys in the autumn/winter weather.
It was just like Christmas morning – Halfords sent Hayden a Mercedes ML350 V6 electric ride on car with remote. It came in a pretty decent size box and needed to be assembled. The instructions were a bit worse for wear and not very straightforward at all. It took about 30 minutes to put together. The instructions were not the best instructions I’ve seen but with a bit of help from me, Mr B managed to put it together HA-HA.
Electric ride on
Has an easy to use remote control
Beautiful working headlights
Super cool built-in music & MP3 player
Easy push start button
Simple forward and reverse gears
The ride on car is suitable from age 3+ and the maximum weight of the rider is up to 20KG. It can go up to the speed of 3KPH and can last a total time of 60 minutes in use.
We charged the car for about an hour as it already had juice in it (average charge time 3/4 hours) and then took it out for a spin.
The first test was indoors on our laminated floors and worked perfectly. We then had a play in the garden but our garden has a slope so the wheels often skidded on the grass as it was damp. Taking the ride-on to our local park is super easy because it weighs about 10 KG and we usually spend about 45mins max in the park in the autumn/winter months.
Hayden is five years old but he’s very tall for his age (has been since birth) he’s got long legs. Surprisingly he didn’t have any trouble using the pedal. So I would say it could actually go up to either age 6. If really pushing it up to age 7 depending on how tall the child is.
I adore that the car comes with its own music. It’s not chart music but it’s up-tempo and the kids really enjoyed dancing along to it.
You can turn the volume up & down of the engine and music – of course Hayden loves it at its loudest.
The lights look beautiful especially if out for an evening stroll. The remote is very easy to configure with the car and once that is done it’s so much fun for the kids to pretend that they’re driving when you’re the one that actually in control. It give you that added piece of mind especially for smaller kids.
Obviously little bro had to get in on the action, but please be advised that the ride on is suitable for age 3 years +. If Hudson was slightly older and still didn’t understand the concept of pushing the pedal down with his foot the remote would come in very handy. Also the belt did not fit around Hudson’s waist tight enough.
