Recently we were given the opportunity to try out the new Amazon Prime Now which launched in London last summer and offers customers one-hour delivery on thousands of everyday items from toilet paper, batteries and toothpaste to last-minute party essentials such as beer, snacks and fizzy drinks as well as other popular items like games consoles, gadgets and gifts – all via a simple and easy-to-use mobile app.
Amazon Prime members can choose delivery within one hour of ordering for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour, same-day delivery slots between 8am and midnight, seven days a week.
4pm on Saturday afternoon is the most common time for parents of babies in London to run out of essential items, according to figures released today by Amazon. Local shoppers are most likely to place last-minute orders for baby essentials like baby wipes, bed time bubble bath and nappies on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm, with deliveries being made using Amazon’s ultra-fast Prime Now service.
As well as stocking up on infant essentials, parents in London are taking advantage of Amazon Prime Now’s one-hour delivery windows to treat themselves too. Shoppers are selecting grocery products including Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Coca Cola and Kingsmill Soft White Medium Sliced Bread to go with their deliveries.
The most popular baby products ordered by London customers on Prime Now:
– Baby wipes
– Baby bed time bubble bath
– Nappy disposal system
How does it work?
First you’ll need to have an Amazon Prime account this can be purchased from Amazon and will cost you £79 a year. You’ll then need to install the ‘Prime Now’ app from The App Store or Google Play.
Then add your postcode to make sure you’re in an area where the service is available. All London post codes and now in selected postcodes which surround the city including Merton, Wandsworth and Sutton.
Ordering and delivery
You have 100’s and 100’s of products to chose from anything from baby nappies to a bottle of wine. Perfect if you have some friends over and have nothing in the fridge or your little one runs of out something essentials and its impossible for you to leave the house. Minimum order is £20
You then get a delivery slot of between two hours (for free) if you need it urgently you can pay an additional £6.99 and get your order with an hour and you can track your driver on his journey to your house or where ever you’re getting the items delivered too. I noticed that our driver was moving ridiculously fast watching him on the map but then realised when he turned up he was actually on a motorbike so it was easy for him to whizz through any traffic especially in the evening rush hour.
Once the order arrived everything was there that we ordered and the items came in big strong brown bags which you can recycle.
I was extremely impressed with the service and have used it 3 times since for quick food items such as fruit and evening meals. They have loads of frozen foods to choose from.
It will be interesting once they have the option of fresh meat products – I don’t think I will ever need to leave home.
They have recently added basic Free From products also which is AMAZING so there’s really no need for me to panic any more if I run out as my local small supermarkets don’t stock Free From products at all.
This really is a true life saver for anyone who can’t get out of the house for a certain reason.
Imagine sitting down to film a Vlog/Blog and your SD card has called it a day… Yep they even stock them at really decent prices too. Download the app and take a look.
