The Allergy and Free From Show

I attended The Allergy and Free From show with my mum, Hayden and sister Bei from www.BeiFit.co.uk – It was my very first time at the allergy & free from show but it certainly will not my last. The Allergy & Free From Show, Europe’s largest event for families living with allergies or intolerances. Their headline sponsor was Udi’s Gluten Free at its 2014 London show.

Our first stop was at James Doherty free from frozen meats
We usually buy these from ASDA but it was nice to get samples of products that we can’t get in out local supermarket. They cover Gluten Free Cocktail Sausages, Beef Meatballs, Pork Sausages & Beef Burgers. Highly recommended, Hayden loves them & their full of flavour.

We then stopped by Ten Acre Crisps. I am an avid fan of crisps and I could eat them until the cows come home.
So it was a nice treat to taste such healthy hand cooked crisps in such delicious flavours. They come in an array of flavours to tickle your taste buds with brilliant names too including Hickory Got BBQ’s, Chicken Soup Saved The Day, Sweet and Sour Became Friends & The Secret of Mr Salt. Not to mention they are Gluten Free, MSG Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Hala & Kosher.

We also managed to have a look at the great range of free from frozen goodies from Ggeorgia’s Choice. The range included Gluten Free Beef Lasagna & even a Mexican Bean Bake. They all looked absolutely mouth-watering.

My sister Bei admiring the brilliant Food by Helen lovely range. We by Helens crumble mix all the time.
The instructions of how to make it are ever so simple and completely Gluten Free.

If you have a sweet tooth like most of my family you will LOVE these tasty sweets from Goody Good Stuff. The peach sweets are to die for. You can find them along the world foods aisle of your local ASDA and Waitrose. The sweets are also fat-free, meat free, dairy free, alcohol free, gluten-free, egg free, nut free, soy free and gelatine free.

Hayden even had time to stop off for some crafts and listen to a story with Allergy Adventures, while my mum got a healing massage. They were brilliant with all the kids and Hayden and I had a blast.

Jim Jams was a firm favourite of mine. While my mum and sister were ogling over the Vitimix machine I took a trip over to the lovely gentle men showcasing their jams. The Strawberry jam is so rich in flavour and perfect on toast.

We then managed to finish off the day with a cheeky nap. The first completely customisable support mattress that I’ve come across. N:Rem have a washable, 1000 pocket spring, heat reducing mattress. I was completely amazing at how easy it was to customise your side of the bed if you have any special requirements that you don’t share with your other half. For instance I like a firm bed where as Rovi prefers a soft bed.

The Allergy & Free From Show has shown rapid growth over the past 4 years.  Visitor numbers for the three-day show have risen from 4,000 in 2010 to just shy of 22,000 in 2013, with exhibitor numbers jumping from 54 to 242 over the same period.  Over 30,000 are expected to attend the 2014 event, which will take place at the iconic Grand Hall at Olympia, and co-locate with sister shows V Delicious, Love Natural Love Organic and The Back Pain Show.

The growth of the show is a testament to the increasing demand for ‘free from’ food and lifestyle products, which has been fuelled by dramatic rises in allergies, intolerances and related conditions amongst the UK population.

The show offers the best ‘free from’ products on the market (food, drink, skin, hair, domestic), as well as a plethora of educational and entertaining talks and demonstrations, across several theatres, led by internationally-recognised experts.

  1. It is amazing how much this event has grown. I think lots of people now really care about what is going into their food.

  2. Hi Charlotte. Do you know if the James Doherty meat products avoid all grains, or just gluten? My husband can’t have grains at all but he loves sausages so would be interesting to know 🙂

    • Hi Micaela, As far as I know it’s only Gluten but I’ll get in contact with them and I’ll let you know lovely. That must be a pain to have to avoid all grains because some still use Rice Flour or Yeast extract x
