So I am a massive fan of vampires, zombies, werewolves and witches (if their from The Originals) and if there is a TV series on it I’m most probably watching it. From Dusk Till Dawn was one of my favourite films to watch in-terms of the Horror genre and when growing up I’ve always had a weird obsession with vampires. I don’t know what it about them, they scare the crap out of me but I do LOVE vampires so when I found out there was an Original Series of From Dusk Till Dawn on Netflix I had to watch it.
First thing first – it’s just like watching the film but cut down into 10 40min-ish episodes there was a few changes here. The series deepens the tone and expands the storyline of the film, adds new characters and back-stories, and explores the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club. It’s was pretty much spot on and I managed to watch the series in about four days that’s how good it is. The Pilot episode was perfect as it was the opening scene to the movie.
I was really impressed with the main brother Seth Gecko (who is played by George Clooney in the 1996 movie and he’s a bit of eye candy. The original family including pastor Jacob Fuller, that were traveling cross-country were included also which was brilliant. The season one series main feature is based on a cop after the Gecko brothers following Richie Gecko escape from prison and both brothers committing armed robbery & Richie – murder.
You can look forward to multiple flash backs – perfect if you were ever wondering what went down during the 1996 movie scenes, also scenes from the bank robbery, motel, Mexican border & Titty Twister bar & incredible fight till dawn to stay alive (those scenes were bloody awesome – no pun intended). I will let you into a little secret – The vampires have a weird but interesting reference to snakes. I won’t give too much away but keep an eye out for the underground ‘cult – Mesoamerican mythology’. I’m really looking forward to season two – I will keep in mind that I have a feeling they may base the next few seasons on the 1999 movies which I can’t remember too well, I’m not a fan of movie sequels they are very rarely as good as the first. So I might have to go watch them again just incase.
Until Next Time… Charlotte x
