Choosing the best child care centre for your child is one of those questions that is difficult to answer until you have actually been into a child care centre and seen the way it works – or had your child there, and either loved it or hated it! As with the different types of schools that are now available, there are also many different styles of child care, so working out the best one for you comes down to personal choice as much as anything else. If you are trying to choose between a few different ones, the best thing to do is make an appointment and have a look around. Here are some questions that you might want to ask yourself when you are in there.
Is it Clean and Tidy?
The first, and most important thing to ask is, ‘is the place clean and tidy?’. This is pretty much a no-brainer, but sometimes in the haste with which we need to make decisions in life, it can be overlooked, so it bares mentioning. When we are talking about ‘clean’ we mean, germ free, which means is it commercially cleaned regularly? Most child care centres employ a commercial cleaner such as AMC Brisbane which means professional cleaners come in once or twice a week to ensure that there are no nasties waiting to infect the children. Is there evidence of hand sanitiser around the place, and are the toilet facilities kept clean? If you can see a high level of cleanliness then that’s one tick in the box for the child care centre.
Are the Current Children Happy?
Usually when you go to visit the place you will be going there with your little one, to have a look around, and see if they like it. While your kid is exploring why not have a look around at the other kids at the place and ascertain whether they are enjoying themselves. If they are all sitting around looking miserable and unstimulated, then this might not be the best place for your bright little spark.
Do They Have Snotty Unwiped Noses?
This question needs to be asked, because as simple as it is, it is a good gauge for whether your little Jonny, or Jo are going to be treated with the same care that you would be giving them at home. If you walk into a centre and there are a bunch of kids with the old ‘green candles’ (as some call them) rolling down under their noses, then you’ve either caught the staff on a really bad day, or they are not on top of keeping the kids in the best order possible. It makes you start to think about how many germs are around in the school, and whether you want your kids spending too much time there.
Are the Staff Engaged?
One way to judge about whether the child care centre is right for you is to see how engaged the staff are. If they are enthusiastic and seem to be enjoying themselves then chances are that they probably like their job, and this will translate into your children’s experience.
Whats the Daily Routine?
Checking out the daily routine is important to work out whether the centre is right for you. Some centres do really awesome stuff like teaching the kids meditation, and other interesting things, so choosing one that fits with your own values is important.
