A Toddlers love for Movies and Theater

I absolutely love entertainment.
Film, Theater… any type of performance really and the same goes for Mr Berice. It stemmed from a young age loved my drama lessons in school then went on to Saturday performing arts school too. One of my hopes when I was pregnant with Hayden was that he would love to watching movies and attending theater performances just like mummy and daddy.
Needless to say I got my wish. From as young as about 5 months he loved watching movies – His very first love was the movie RIO he would sit through the whole movie without making a peep – If you’re a regular follower of my blog you would know he is such an active toddler and we would find it hard to get him to sit still and do anything. But movies seem to be his thing as I type he is watching Toy Story 3 on Sky Demand (his new love)

Hayden has been to the cinema several times and he’s only just turned two years old.
Hes seen:
Despicable Me 2
Finding Nemo (Private screening with Matalan)
-Tinkabelle: The Pirate Fairy
– Rio 2
– Tom and Jerry 2014 (Private screening with Warner Bros)

I was so surprised by his reaction to attending the cinema for the first time… He was a bit scared walking into the dark room but was absolutely find once he was inside and he saw the big bright screen.

Hayden visited the cinema to watch his first play. It was at Greenwich to watch ‘The Cat In The Hat’ it was brilliant! It was bright colourful, very interactive – there was even a part in the middle of the play where there were beach balls and bubbles flying everywhere, the kids really enjoyed it and so did I.
Hayden was actually sad when it ended.
Maybe he felt it wasn’t long enough – I thought it was just right 40mins not too short not too long as he is still only little and there was was loads of kids there some were actually getting restless. Something which I dread but haven’t never experienced it yet *touch wood*.

Hayden is now two and I can’t wait for him to go and watch other theater plays hopefully in the West End. Its a bit pricey especially for a tot so we will wait a few more years but we know he will love going. We plan on making it a every few months event if there is something age appropriate for him. Hotel Direct provide great package offers for families. They make it really easy to book a hotel and theater package together in London, if you live outside of London or abroad this would be perfect for you. Who doesn’t want to watch a theater performance in the London… The home of theater.

What age did you first take your child to the cinema/theater?
Did they enjoy it, did you enjoy it?

  3. My youngest is two and have been trying to remember what age my much bigger two started going to the cinema- not totally sure my toddler is ready to sit still just yet! Love the sound of taking him to a 40 minute show though- a much more manageable length for a fidgety small chap like mine- will have to see what’s on at our nearest big town soon!

  4. Mine love going to the theatre and cinema too. Did you know that every August there’s a kids’ theatre week in London where there are free kids’ tickets on offer when they go with a paying adult?

  5. My son was about 3 or 4 when we first took him. He loves the cinema to this day and he’s 17 now, so much so he wants to work in the film industry.

  10. Wow, you do have a film connoisseur there! Mine are 8, 6 and 4 and right now, going to the cinema is a real pleasure as they all like similar sort of stuff, Despicable Me 2 has been their favourite by a mile over the last year!
