Top Five Places to Jet Ski in the UK

This post is part of Indespension’s Get Out There campaign, launched to encourage people to make the most of the great outdoors…

Everyone who has ever had the pleasure to experience it for themselves knows that jet-skiing is one of the most versatile, fun and exhilarating outdoor activities available. Delivering high speed thrills at the turn of a key, jet skis promise an adrenaline rush alongside the wonderful feeling of total freedom out on the water.

The only problem – particularly if you’re new to the sport – is finding the perfect spot to rev your engine with minimal disturbance. If you’re looking to become part of the growing number who will experience the pleasure of buzzing around Britain’s coasts and lakes this summer, this guide to the absolute best five locations will hopefully help make the decision about where to head a whole lot easier.

1.  Jetski World Safaris
Hodges Gap Promenade, Margate
Frequently described by guests as ‘the best place to jet ski in the UK’, Jetski World in Margate brings jet-ski lovers together and welcomes new members with friendly and helpful staff on hand to instruct and join in the fun in equal measure. Boasting a sandy beach upon which brief moments of respite from the intense excitement of jet-skiing may be found, the beautiful promenade is the perfect place to pick up a fulfilling new hobby and enjoy jet-skiing in good company.

2. Kingsbury Jetbike Centre
Kingsbury Water Park, Sutton Coldfield
Boasting 42 acres, Kingsbury Jetbike Centre is situated on the banks of a beautiful lake enclosed in tranquil, bucolic woodland. Welcoming staff are on hand to provide lessons for the beginner, and the stunning setting makes a leisurely cruise or a high-octane sprint equally tempting. Best of all, as the Centre is part of the enormous Kingsbury Water Park complex, you’ll never be short of things to do should you need a break from jet-skiing…

3. Stanton Lakes
Broughton Road, Leicestershire
With beautiful lakes spanning 18 acres, Stanton Lakes remain one of the UK’s most popular destinations for jet-skiing as well as other water-based activities such as fishing and even open-water swimming. With the jet-skiing area surrounded by picnic tables allowing tired adventurers to refuel (as well as an excellent restaurant offering scenic views of the lake) Leicestershire’s stunning natural beauty makes jet-skiing here an unmissable thrill which simply must be experienced in person.

4. Torbay, Torquay
Torbay is one of the most popular venues in the UK for personal watercraft enthusiasts with 22 miles of coastline to explore. The proximity to the three enclosed harbours of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham also offer resources to tired jet-skiers. Hurtling up and down the coastline, jet-skiers will rarely feel so free.

5. Middlemoor Water Park
The Causeway, Somerset
With a purpose-built 20-acre lake and peaceful, rural setting, Middlemoor Water Park has built up a loyal contingent of jet-skiers since being built way back in 1989, and has grown to incorporate other equally exciting watersports such as water skiing and wakeboarding. Needless to say, there are plenty of experts on hand to give beginners a kick start, plus free wetsuits for everyone on the lake in the interests of safety.

With options for lake or sea skiing, relaxed cruising or high-speed antics all over the UK on the coast or on enclosed lakes, there are options on this list for anybody, no matter their level of Jet Ski experience. Now, no excuses… It’s time to turn the key and hit the water!
