Lifecake Private Family Photo Sharing App and Giveaway

Lifecake launched the first ever private photo sharing service especially designed for families. Launched in November this lifeline photo sharing app has is brilliant. We have been reviewing the app available from the app store and love it.

First Impressions:
– Can share privately with friends and family
– Automatically records the date the photo was taken
– Import as many photos at once
– Ability to comment and like photos on the time line
Lifecake offers today’s busy parents a quick and private solution for keeping relatives and friends regularly updated on their children’s “must share” moments. Often reluctant to share photos and videos online due to privacy and trust issues, parents now have a secure and beautiful place to share only with those who truly care.
Grandparents, family and loved ones can be an instant part of the celebration of new baby arrivals, baby’s first smile and those every day memories even when they can’t be there in person. Lifecake alerts them via a mobile app or email when new photos have been added and they can view and leave comments via smartphone, (iPhone or Android), iPad or by PC at www.lifecake.com.

Price: Lifecake is completely free to try, and you get a generous allowance of roughly 1000 photos and 1 hour of high quality video. Very Important Parents can keep 100 GB of content safe on Lifecake.
Subscriptions are monthly – for £2.99, about the price of one frappuccino – or yearly for only £24.99.
Photobooks can be purchased for £35 plus shipping for an 80 page hardcover book. Additional pages can be added.

Overall: We have been using this app for a while now uploading photos as and when I get a free time to sit down. Saying that, I don’t actually have to sit still to focus on uploading, I can do this by either uploading photos from Facebook, Instagram folders and also on my device or laptop so it was really easy to do. The app also inputs the date that photos are taken and the age of your child at the time of the photo which is awesome – I don’t have to count on my finger HAHA.
My parents are in Barbados, they usually go for long stretches last year I printed a who load of photos and posted it to them. This year they have wifi & a laptop (rolling with the times) so we Skype all the time but now I can share with them all the photos I want … and I take a lot.

The best function I love about this app is that it uses the same infrastructure that Amazon uses in terms of keeping your content safe which is awesome!
Recently there was quite an uproar on another popular social sharing app where parents were sick and tired of seeing mums and dads having their photos stolen from their timeline – Some peoples reactions where stuff like ‘Put your profile of private’ ‘watermark all your photos’ but that’s not really the answer social sites should try and make things a lot more secure like Lifecake is a nice closed, secure & safe environment to share photos with loved ones.
Once you’ve uploaded your photos you then have the option of having the photos printed out into a hardcover photo book which is durable binding and on premium gloss paper.
They are 21cm x 21cm (8.2″ x 8.2″) and fit most handbags!
Unfortunately I didn’t get to test out the photobook feature but I do have one to giveaway to one lucky reader

  1. Thank you, Lotte, for such a great review. The Lifecake team are so happy you enjoyed the service. We created it to bring our families closer into our kids’ lives (without publishing everything on Facebook) – so I am pleased your parents can continue to track Hayden every day despite the distance this year. Thanks again.

  2. It sounds really good! My best time in 2013 would either be Christmas day (the kids faces when they saw their presents) or one of the many great moments from our family holiday!

  3. Sounds great. I had two best times in 2013 – a family wedding where the whole family was together for the first time in many years and Christmas Eve when my husband and children all sat round the table having a long chatty evening meal by candlelight. A perfect start to the Christmas break.

  16. It sounds great, really love it. It’s nice to know everything is safe and also love that it automatically adds the date. Nothing worse than looking back at a photo and wondering roughly when it was taken.
Best moment of 2013 was telling my daughter she was going to be a big sister. Now we are looking forward t meeting baby in April.

  17. Summer holiday
