Hayden’s Love For The Arts – Cat In The Hat Greenwich Theatre!

“With the trickiest of tricks and craziest of ideas, he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure. But what will mum find when she gets home?” In one sentence, It wasn’t raining today but the cat in the hat certainly turned our afternoon into an amazing adventure especially for my toddler.

We were kindly invited along to the first day of the must loved production based on the book Dr Seuss, The Cat In The Hat.
I can’t say that before I had Hayden I had watched or took interest in Dr Seuss but fell in love with The Lorax as soon as Hayden found interest in films. Our household knows the movie off by heart and my mum wondered why I didn’t bring the DVD with us when we went to Barbados in November.

I don’t have any of the Dr Seuss books as I don’t think Hayden would understand it very much not to mention he doesn’t sit still for reading time so book choices are selective. He’s seen the movie version of the theatre play several times so I knew he would remember the characters.
The performance started of with Boy played by Robert Hannouch and Sally played by Cassandra Harris at home bored due to the down pour weather outdoors, trying to figure out what they could do while there mum was away from the house. Out of ideas along came ‘THE CAT’ and brought the most mischief they have ever encounter – The question is …  What will happen when mum gets home?

I seriously take my hat off to the whole production team, all the lighting and sounds and stage cue were on point (I always look for the little things)
The Cat played by Ashley Bates really gets into his role and had Hayden laughing out loud several times – Please bare in mind Hayden will be 2 in April. Not to mention there is tons of interaction with the audience from Fish played by Paul Cleveland and Thing 1/Kitten 1 played by Jill Regan and Thing 2/Kitten 2 played by Andrew Beckett.

A big thank you for making Hayden’s first theatre experience fantastic and for giving us a whole load of giggles. Hayden did me very proud, interacted with the cast even when he wasn’t meant to, sat through the whole production & even wanted more when it ended.
If you need a huge amount of fun and laughter in your life his half term take the little ones & a few big ones to go and see this awesome show.
