When Hayden was younger he had severe eczema, which cause him an infection and was admitted into hospital because of it. With all infection you get a high temperature and that’s what rang the alarm bells for us.
We were kindly given the Braun ThermoScan to review, a blessing in disguise really. Although Hayden hasn’t been admitted into hospital since before his 1st birthday (thank god, touch wood) we are so glad that our lives have crossed paths with this device. For one its fast, reliable, smart & what poorly child likes to sit still waiting a minute with something stuck under their armpit?
We have had to only use it twice with Hayden for his molars. Hes been brilliant with his teething not fussy at all but does get poorly, gathers a temperate and want extra cuddles (I am not complaining one bit). We were using a normal normal under the armpit thermometer before the Thermoscan. Due to Hayden being extremely hyper and a complete fidget constantly has ants in his pants – unless hes watching a movie of course. It would be a bit of a nightmare when when taking his temp in the hospital, a complete fight.
Braun ThermoScan IRT ear thermometers measure the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissue. When the Braun ThermoScan IRT is placed in the ear, it continuously monitors the infrared radiation emitted by the eardrum. Once the thermometer obtains an accurate reading, the measurement is complete and the result is displayed.
