We attended yet another awesome bloggers event this week. Forest Holidays invited us to the opening of their brand new Blackwood Forest site in Winchester, Hampshire
We traveled from London to Hampshire by taking the A406, M11, M25 then M3
Took us about 1h 45mins simply because there was traffic *shock* on the M25 then we took a minor wrong turn just before the turning for the retreat … Stupid Google Maps haha
11.30 We’ll meet in the Forest Retreat at.
12.00 We’ll take a tour of a typical Forest Holidays cabin.
12.30 Lunch (prepared by our Forest Retreat team, including our wonderful pizzas!)
13.15 Activities with our Forest Rangers
15.00 Farewell drinks at the Forest Retreat
We arrived at the gorgeous 270 hectare beech forest which was not yet open to the public, so there was some evidence of final building touches and landscaping going on,
It’s almost complete, and as such this weekend was their first ‘soft launch’ with their contractors’ families who were welcomed to stay on site to ‘test’ the cabins to ensure everything is as it should be ahead of our opening on 17 May.
We were greeted by the Blackwood Forest site staff with hot/cold drinks and a welcome talk about what’s to offer and whats on site when the retreat is opened to the public
– Bike Hire
For all the family
Uncover the forest’s secrets
Discover the freedom of the forest
The reception staff can even recommend and book activities for you.
After that you can enjoy a freshly cooked meal in the café I had a bacon roll & Rovi had hamburger despite us being offered a buffet lunch – He was hungry LOL, It was delicious though
There is even a out door play area for the children
We were then driven to see one of the Silver Birch cabins by the lovely Gareth who gave us the run down of all things Forest Holiday. Wouldn’t mind taking a trip to see all the sites they all sound so magical – But I was really excited to see this cabin.
Silver Birch Cabins
Style and substance. Sleeps 4-6 (two and three bedrooms available)
Once inside the cabin we were greeted by the awesome Jill – She was so lovely.
She told us what was available in each cabin, I’m talking in-house entertainment like WiFi over 100 movies to choose from, pic up the phone and order some scrumptious pizza. You can even have spa treatment in you cabin – Imagine that on a couples holiday?? How relaxing right!
I managed to get a few shots of the cabin.
After viewing the cabin we were given the option to take the short 10 min walk back to the reception area, which we jumped at the chance to do
We arrived back to the reception area where there was a nice little spread laid out for us.
Hayden had his own lunch made by mummy lol
After we eat we had a little play in the kids play area
Our ranger showed us some baby mice which had made home in the forest – they were so cute
The house we see below is said to have bats that lived in there. I stayed well away HAHA
Overall we had a fantastic day.
Hayden was so tired & so were we. I’m kinda thinking maybe we should have taken the train up & back but the car journey home was a lot of fun – I was just very tired.
We’re absolutely going back once its opened fully so watch this space.
