It Still Feels Like Winter – Create a Cosy Boudoir

It seems like Spring hasn’t yet arrived and Winter is still around making it feel long and bleak, so add some warmth to your home by creating a cosy bedroom space. Any room can be given a makeover with some new bed linen, textiles and lighting, and by focusing on a warm colour palette. A huge selection of soft furnishings can be found online, including the fantastic range of comfy mattress toppers at Kandco.com
As it’s the centerpiece of most bedrooms, the bed is a great starting point for your makeover. If you have a double bed in a small room, it means that the colours and fabrics that you put on it will really set the tone for the rest of the space. As such, your choice of bed linen is key. To create a cosy atmosphere, choose a duvet cover in warm orange, rust or chocolate. Keep patterns simple and instead add detail using extra accessories. A throw is essential for those chilly nights so, for the ultimate in luxury looks, opt for one in faux fur to drape on the bed.
You can use textiles in other areas of the room too, and in doing so you’ll add to the warm atmosphere even more. A soft, thick rug will feel lush under foot, and on top of a thin carpet or wooden floor this can help to insulate your bedroom (it may even lower those heating bills!). A sheepskin rug will complement the natural look of a woollen or faux fur throw and will provide the ultimate in warmth and comfort. Meanwhile, if you have an armchair or sofa in your room, this can easily be smartened up if it’s re-upholstered in a rich-coloured fabric – an effective addition to your room for a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new piece of furniture. Mix things up with a couple of cushions in different fabrics, whilst still sticking to the colour scheme.
Lighting can make a huge difference to an interior space as well. During the winter months, create a warm glow by using standing and bedside lamps, which offer a softer light than bright ceiling lights. String fairy lights over a bedhead, or coil them up in a large jar for a cosy glimmer and an attractive bedroom feature.
